What’s natural graphite? Natural graphite is graphite which is naturally formed. It is an important industrial mineral with many uses. This mineral can be used for electronics, heat metal process, friction and coatings as well as aerospace.

What’s graphite?
Graphite may also be known as the crystalline form of carbon. It is composed of stacks of graphene layers that are stacked upon each other. Graphite can be found naturally, and in most standard circumstances is the strongest form of carbon.
Both synthetic and natural graphite are used in pencils, lubricants, and electrodes. High temperatures and high pressure can cause it to transform into diamonds. It cannot conduct heat or electricity well.

Are there any types of natural graphite?
You can find natural graphite in many deposit types. The main ones however are:
Flake graphite, also called flake graphite, is small flat-like particles made of crystalline graphite. They have hexagonal edges (if they are not fractured). Damage can cause edges to become irregular or bent.
Amorphous graphite. This flake is made of fine graphite. It’s also sometimes called “amorphous”.
Lumpy graphite (also known as veined, lumpy, or graphite) is commonly found in cracks, or fissures. This can appear as lumpy Symbionts with fibrous or needlelike, crystalline aggregates. This might indicate hydrothermal source.
Highly ordered graphite is also called pyrolytic or highly-ordered graphite. It refers graphite that has a greater angular distribution between graphite sheets than 1deg.
The term “graphite fiber” is sometimes used to refer to carbon fiber or carbon-fiber-reinforced polymers.

Is natural graphite used most frequently?
Natural graphite has a melting temp of 3650 and is therefore a good conductor. Graphite is a good choice for batteries and other lubricants.

Anode for an Electric Vehicle
Graphite serves currently as the base material for lithium-ion cell production. Global demand is rapidly increasing for lithium-ion battery cathodes that are made from battery grade, natural or spherical Graphite. This trend will not stop until 2022. This battery is used most often in electronic devices, and electric cars.
Graphite is a useful raw material for light materials, such as carbon fibre and reinforced plastics used to make cars and planes.

Butters and oil
Graphite can be used to dry solid lubricants over many years. It’s used in forging and forging steel, titanium, stainless and superalloy stamping items, dieforging, hotextrusion, impact exptrusion as well as tools for forging.
Graphite is a great material for lubrication, demulding, and many other purposes. It can be concealed easily and offers excellent tool wettability. The graphite is extremely pure and contains highly refined oils which reduce the wear of engravings.

Refractory and crucible materials are
The conductivity of graphite is 100 times greater than the non-metallic mineral materials. Graphite may be used during the steelmaking process to protect ingots as well as lining metallurgical ovens.

Graphite plays an integral role in aluminum production , as well as being an alloy component for cast iron and semiconductor industries.
Graphite can be purchased in thin sheets and expanded graphite. This permits the formation of metal-graphite compound. Graphite is versatile and can be used in many different ways, depending on the amount of graphite you use. It’s used as a heating material, for passive damping, for mechanical engineering, and to make bearing materials for slow-rotating plain bearings. By combining materials, you can adjust the material’s properties such as their thermal conductivity and strength to suit your application. Powder metallurgy has the ability to make up to 90% volume graphite without pores. You can still finish graphite at high levels mechanically.

Brakepad
Brake pads are made of graphite. Graphite powder is used in friction stabilization as well as solid lubrication. It’s also useful in adhesive for brake pads.

Pencil
Pencils made from graphite have a long history. Pencils were first made out of both graphite and clay in the 19th Century. Clay hardens and colors the pencils, and graphite adds softness and black color.
