Boron Nitride crystal is part of the hexagonal crystal system. The structure and properties of this crystal are identical to graphite.

Boron Nitride is often found in graphite structures. These are commonly known as white graphite. One type is diamond. The conversion of graphite from diamond to graphite is also possible. This can be converted into diamond-type Boron Nitride at very high temperatures (1800degC) and pressure (880Mpa). The boron nutride has a bond length of B-N at 156pm. It has a density similar to the one found in diamond. The material has the same hardness as diamond but is more resistant to heat. It can be used to cut, drill and for other high temperature uses.
