What is Tungstentrioxide?
Tungsten Trioxide is a yellow-colored triclinic powder. Tungsten trioxide turns to orange tetragonal if it is exposed to temperatures above 740 degrees Celsius. These crystals then return back to their original states after cooling. It is stable when heated to room temperature, having a melting point at 1473degC, boiling point at 1750degC and relative density of 7.16.
Tungsten oxide is the most stable type of tungsten. It’s insoluble in water, and other inorganic acid than hydrofluoric. You can dissolve it in hot concentrated sodium hydroxyide solution or ammonia to make soluble tungstate. When the temperature exceeds 650 degrees, it can be reduced with H2 and reduced further by C.
