One of the most important components of soap made of olive oil is sodium oleate. This can also make up a significant part of tallow soap. It is a mixture of hydrophilic and hydrophobic elements. It has high emulsifying powers, penetrating strength, and detergency. Also, it is well-soluble in hotwater. It serves as an anionic solvent and fabric waterproofing agents.

The nature and uses of sodium Oleate

1. Oxidation The color can also be gradually oxidized, and then colored in the open air. This will darken it and cause rancidity. Preparation sodium oleate

It can be obtained by neutralizing either sodium hydroxide, or sodium carbonate within an oleic acid-ethanol solution.

10g of oleic Acid can be mixed in 100 mL (95% ethanol) and then titrated using sodium hydroxide, which has a concentration at 0.5mol/L. After reaching the equivalence points, the precipitated sodium oil soap was filtered. It is possible to distill ethanol from water to remove the precipitate.

Use of sodium Oleate
