sodium acetate density is the density of a soluble solution of sodium acetate. sodium acetate density can be used to determine the concentration of an aqueous solution, and can also be measured in terms of percentage stoichiometric concentration.

Soluble in water

Sodium acetate is soluble in water, so it can be easily separated from the water with a little boiling of the solution. The aqueous solution is then cooled to room temperature, and the crystals are formed.

It is an aqueous salt, containing acetate and carbonate ions. It is a good acid-base buffer in the pH range of 3 to 6, and is commonly used as an equilibrative buffer in molecular biology. It is also used in the purification and precipitation of nucleic acids.

Soluble in alcohols

Sodium acetate can be made by mixing vinegar (5-8 percent acetic acid) with sodium carbonate. This reaction produces carbonic acid, which is then decomposed by heating to produce carbon dioxide and water.

A moderately to highly concentrated liquid solution of sodium acetate is available from American Elements. This material is packaged in 55 gallon drums and smaller units.

High purity acetates are used as precursors for the production of ultra high purity compounds and certain catalyst and nanoscale (nanoparticles and nanopowders) materials. Sodium acetate is also used to improve the performance of polymer bulk-heterojunction solar cells.

Sodium acetate is used in the textile industry when an aniline dye is used, and it is used in chrome tanning as a pickling agent. It is also used to eliminate static electricity in disposable cotton pads and to reduce sulfuric acid waste streams during the processing of synthetic rubber.
