Tantalum disboride and tantalum diboride are both gray powders. Tantalum boride is totally insoluble with acid, nitric acids and aqua regia. Hot sulfuric acid and hydrofluoric Acid are slightly insoluble. It is also soluble with molten alkali, sodium carbonate and molecular bicarbonate. Crystal Vickers hardness and TaB2 Film are about 30GPa. These materials can withstand oxidation up to 700degC.

How is Tantalum Boride TAB2 Powder manufactured?
Vacuum or cylinder-gas protection is used to prepare the powder by reacting the element boron or the mixture carbon/oxidizing load or boron oxide.
By using the floating zone technique, single crystals can be made of Tab2 that measure approximately 6cm in length and 1cm in diameter.
Tantalum Boride Films can be produced from mixtures with Tacl 5-Bcl3+H 2-Ar at temperatures between 540 and 800 degrees Celsius.TAB 2 is (single Phase) deposited at BCl3 / TaCl5 = 2-3 and T = 600 to 700degC.
At 700-900degC in argon, Tab2 nanocrystals could be synthesized successfully by reduction of NaBH4 to Ta 2O 5.
