Nitinol Nickel Titanium Ni-2i Alloy powder:
Nitinol (also known as nickel-titanium alloy) is a mixture of nickel, titanium, and other metal elements. The atomic percentages for the two elements are approximately equal. The weight percentage of nickel is used to name different alloys, like nickel. Nitinol 55 & Nitinol-60. It exhibits superelasticity and the shape memory effect at various temperatures.
The shape memory alloy Nitinol can restore the original plastic shape of its alloy at specific temperatures. It expands at a rate of more than 20%, has a fatigue lifetime of seven times one to ten, and can dampen 10 times as well.
Apart from having an exceptional shape memory function, memory alloys also offer excellent features such as wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
Superelasticity and shape memory are two of Nitinol’s unique and closely related properties. Nitinol has the unique ability to shape memory, which allows it to form at temperatures, retain its deformed shape after an external force is removed and then revert back to its original shape when heated beyond its transition temperature. The ability for a metal to endure large deformations without causing damage and instantly restore its original shape when the external load has been removed. Nitinol is able to deform up to 30 times the normal metals but it can also restore its original shape. It depends on the temperature above which Nitinol is alloyed. This will determine whether Nitinol has a superelasticity or shape memory effect. The alloy exhibits a superelasticity at temperatures above and below that of the transition temperature. How Nitinol Nickel Titanium NiTi Alloy powder is produced?
Nitinol, due to its excellent reactivity and stringent composition control is very hard to produce. Any titanium atom that reacts with carbon, oxygen, or other elements is a NiTi atom. It alters the structure and lowers phase transition temperatures. There are two major melting methods.
Vacuum arc remelting (VAR)
It is done by creating an arc between raw material and water-cooled copper strike plates. This is achieved by melting the raw material under high vacuum. The mold is made from water-cooled copper.
Vacuum induction melting (VIM)
It is achieved by heating the raw materials in a furnace (usually carbon), using an alternating magnetic force. Also, this can be done in a vacuum.
These two processes have advantages but the VIM melting process has been found to be more resilient than the VART. Another research report shows that using ultra-high purity plasticizers from raw materials to reduce inclusions can improve fatigue performance. On a smaller scale, other techniques can be employed, such as electron beam melting, plasma arc melt and induction skull melting. A laboratory scale can be used for physical vapor deposit.
While hot Nitinol can be worked on quickly, it is very difficult to work cold. Because of its high elasticity, the metal increases the contact with the roll or mold, which results in great frictional resistance. Similar reasons make machining difficult. Worse, Nitinol’s thermal conductivity is low, making it very hard to remove heat. Abrasive and electrical cutting, as well as laser cutting (electro discharge machining) and grinding (abrasive cutting) can all be done relatively easily.

Nitinol Nickel Titanium NiTi alloy Powder
Nitinol has a tensile force of 1000 MPa. This means that it requires more than 100 dry grams per square meter of force to break it. It is also stronger than regular steel.
Nitinol alloy has 50% nickel, 50% titanium. That is, both the titanium and nickel components are equal, with each one accounting for 50%. It is possible to adjust its temperature range using the control of individual components. It is generally true that the work temperature of Nitinol will drop the greater the Nitinol content. It can function at room temperature if it has 55% nickel and 45 percent titanium.
Shape memory alloy is used by people to make bracelets and pearl necklaces using shape memory alloy wires. Also, bras that are woven with these wires can be made. The body’s original curvature will be restored and stiffened by wearing these ornaments and other health products. To correct deformed teeth, Nitinol alloy can be used to make wires.
Traditional actuators can be replaced by Nitinol, such as servo motors and solenoids. This includes the basic six-legged Stiquito robot.
For fluid thermal valves where temperature sensors and actuators can be used, Nitinol Springs are employed.
It is also used in the manufacture of optical image stabilizers for mobile phones.
To achieve comfort seats, pneumatic valves employ alloys. These are industry norms.
An alloy Chevrolet Corvette has a nickel/titanium-memory alloy actuator that replaces the heavy electric transmission. It opens and closes hatches to allow air to escape from the torso.
