What’s nickel-based alloy powder?
In the self-fluxing series of alloy powders, nickel-based powder is most commonly used. The powder is highly resistant to heat, corrosion and oxidation. Easy operation, low melting point, large solid-liquid temperature range and strong wetting capability for various substrates.
The self-fluxing, wetability and spray welding qualities of the layer are excellent. Spray welding layers have high hardness and corrosion resistance. They are also resistant to heat and can be difficult to cut. Wet grinding is preferred.
The classification of powdered nickel-based alloys
(1) Nickel-chromium thermal spray Powder: This powder is made from adding 20 percent chromium and nickel. These alloys are durable coatings and resist corrosion at all temperatures. This coating adheres to the base metal well and is dense. It acts as a transition material between other coatings such as ceramics or soft metals. The ability to resist high-temperature gas erosion can be increased by using it. It also helps improve both the base and coating materials. Bond strength.
(2) Nickel-chromium/iron alloy thermal-spray powder: This powder is made from nickel-chromium, with the appropriate iron. Its high temperature oxidation resistant is slightly less than that of nickel–chromium alloys. However, other properties are almost identical to those of nickel–chromium. They are very similar. This alloy has a significant advantage in that it’s relatively inexpensive, making it ideal for the repair of corrosion-resistant workpieces. It can also be used to make transition layer thermal spray powder.
(3) Nickel-chromium-boron alloy thermal spray powder: This alloy contains elements such as boron, chromium and carbon, so it has high hardness and moderate toughness. The coating, once sprayed, is heat resistant, wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant. This can be used to anti-corrosion repair pistons and shafts.
(4) Nickel alloy alloy thermal spraying paste: The nickel-aluminum allot thermal spraying product is used as a primer. Each particle is comprised of fine nickel powder or aluminum powder. Thermal spray powder can be heated up to 600°C by a flame. A strong chemical reaction takes place between nickel, aluminum and forms intermetallic compounds. The aluminum can also be oxidized, which will produce more heat. The high temperatures can cause nickel to diffuse into base metals, which will improve the bonding properties of the coating. A notable characteristic of nickel-aluminum alloy composite thermal spray is its rough surface. It can be used to connect other spray materials. This composite thermal spray powder has an expansion coefficient that is similar to many steels. It is also a great intermediate coating material.
Application of powder nickel-based alloy steel
It’s suitable for the oxygen-acetylene flame and plasma spray welding processes. This is used often for prevention and repair of corrosion resistant, wear-resistant, particularly sliding parts like wire drawing drums.
Precautions:
1. You must strictly adhere to the oxygen-acetylene flame and plasma spray welding requirements.
2. It is recommended to use medium or small spray welding guns with -150 mesh, while large spray welding guns should be used with -150/+320 powder.
3. It should be dried if the alloy powder is susceptible to moisture absorption or if the shelf life exceeds three months.
