Rhenium is a silvery-gray metal that is used in the production of high-temperature super alloys for jet engine parts. It is also used as a catalyst for making lead-free, high-octane gasoline. Rhenium is produced as a powder or in the form of pressed and resistance-sintered pellets. American Elements manufactures rhenium in rod, bar and ingot form as well as in compounds such as oxide. Our rhenium pellets are regular-shaped pieces of material that have been consolidated through pressing and resistance-sintering in a hydrogen atmosphere. They are light gray and can be custom manufactured to specific size requirements.
Rhenium is a toxic element that may cause respiratory irritation when inhaled or swallowed and can irritate the skin and eyes. It must be handled and stored in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local environmental regulations. Request a safety data sheet for more information.
